Educational Horizons Charter School combines Montessori teaching techniques and curriculum with Florida’s rigorous Florida State Standards. This unique blend of instruction brings the best of state-of-the-art teaching philosophies together with the child-centered individualized mindset of Montessori.
Our Montessori classrooms provide a rich environment to naturally foster children’s desire to work and learn by giving them the opportunity to be spontaneous and engage in meaningful activities under the guidance of a trained instructor. Through their work, children develop concentration, motivation, persistence and discipline. Within this framework of order, they progress at their pace and rhythm according to their individual capabilities.
New Standards for Florida schools. EST stands for Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking. These are new educational standards for mathematics and language arts designed to replace the standards based on Common Core. It was unanimously approved by the Florida Board of Education and published in February 2020.
The new state assessments are used to guide instruction by taking data three times a year for all students. Our teachers use this information to guide instruction and create learning tools.
